These birdhouses are made from recycled wood and tin and other architectural findings.  I use old cedar and cypress fence boards.  The houses are inspired by the architecture of the old South - acadian houses, shotgun houses, barns, churches, and facade-type buildings such as one would see in a rural southern town.  I like adding details to the basic structure, such as window frames (sometimes adding a bit of wire screen or mesh), tin furniture, awnings, signs -- little details to make these look as authentic as possible.  I construct these birdhouses with the birds in mind, so that they are functional as well as decorative.
